This past weekend something funny happened. When I stuck my head out of the sliding glass door to go outside as I do every morning, some water fell on my head? I heard Chris call this rain. I also heard him say that there hasn’t been rain here for over 143 days which is a record for this area (whatever that means). It was kind of strange for me because there was a whole plethora of new smells for me to enjoy but after 10 minutes of trying to figure out what was going on I gave up and just accepted it. One thing I found out was that humans are strange. Everytime I would come in from the rain, Sandra was waiting for me with a towel to try and dry me off. I found this to be a fun game because the more she rubbed me with the towel the more I tried to bite it. That was fun! I don’t know why Sandra was so insistent that I was dry as I thought being wet was perfectly OK.
We also had visitors this weekend. Sandra’s friends Vern and Monica came for a visit. I heard them say that they just got married last weekend. I don’t know why humans do this thing call ‘getting married’? When I find another dog that I like, I just play with him for a while and then move on to a new dog. Anyway, I digress. Chris and Sandra looked like they had a great time visiting with Vern and Monica. They laughed a lot and must of went out to dinner a lot because I got put in my crate while they were gone a few times. One day when the rain stopped for a little while, Chris and Vern took me out on the pontoon boat in the morning and did this thing called ‘fishing’. I don’t know what it’s all about but I had fun trying to bite the lures as they cast them (which usually ended up in a scolding) and when they caught a fish, boy was it fun trying to bite those wiggly suckers. Chris caught a big fish (I heard him say that was the biggest one he’s seen on this lake so far) and Vern wasn’t so lucky. Although Vern caught more smaller ones.
Yesterday we took a ride in the car up to a place called Carefree, AZ. It’s about 30 miles north of Phoenix (or so Chris tells me). When we got there and I jumped out of the truck and the ground was covered with this white stuff that Chris called ‘snow’. Now I’ve lived in Arizona all of my 5 months and I’ve never heard of anyone talk about this snow stuff, all I hear about is the heat. Anyway, once I hit this ‘snow’ I was in heaven! I ran and ran , rolled in the stuff, and buried my nose in the stuff. Chris threw snowballs at me and I caught them in my mouth. What a fun day!
